Somewhere

Image
For the somewhere project, I chose to place myself in a scene from the God Father. In my opinion its one of the coolest movies ever made. I also come from Italian roots so it means a lot to me culturally. I don't know a lot about my family history, but my mom tells me that my great grandfather had dated an Italian mafia princess. So when I watched the movie I thought that it was cool because it could've been how my life turned out if I was born at a different time. I also think the movie has amazing cinematography. Overall I think its a really good movie and I would recommend it to anyone who likes action and suspenseful movies.

1.  I think this is the hardest picture because he has to get all the shadows right and align his foot placement correctly which I don't think he did that well.  2. I couldn't find any inspiration on his profile because I already have my idea.  3. This set of pictures was funny to me because my humor is super simplistic and I mean like its just a head and legs.  4. I want to recreate these pictures because these people look cool doing it and now I know its safe so there's no risk in it.

For this piece we were suppose to encompass something new we had discovered about ourselves over this pandemic. While I did discover some things, I wanted to take a different approach and display the more apathetic feeling I have been feeling since the beginning. As the pandemic worsened it seemed like the days just merged into one endless cycle of doing school and sleeping. I tried to display the road into the cycle and how it seems to be never-ending. However I do believe that things will get better eventually. Which is why I decided to use such vibrant colors and hues to show that even in the darkest situation light will shine through.  I placed myself on top of the moon to symbolize how I am just a bystander looking at all of this. I feel like I have no control over my own situation any more and I am just peacefully watching time pass me by.

BW to Color

Image
For my monochrome piece I choose my favorite color, purple. I chose a variety of shades from the darkest to the lightest. I like how the shades compliment each other and and make the piece really pop.  For my complimentary colors I choose green and pink. The colors reminded me of gogort and the Fairly Odd Parents. I think the colors really make each other pop and make the piece very bright.  For my analogous colors I wanted to choose ones that gave me a comic-book feel. The mix of colors in this piece gives me an Andy Warhol feel, and was inspired by this piece on Marylin Monroe.

Logo

For my logo I wanted to use a symbol that represents me completely. I am very big on all types of love and peace. I find myself to be a very loving and peaceful person. My logo represents that with the hand symbol of two fingers crossed.

Photoshop Tutorials

Image
The first video I watched was the glow effect. I am pretty knowledgeable in photoshop because it was mainly what we used in my high school graphic design class. One of my favorite tools is the quick selection tool. It allows the user to  select portions of the object with ease. In the video they also used the blur effects, they add a lot to an image depending on which one you pick. In the video he uses the Gaussian blur to emphasize the glow effect.  The second video shows how to blend two images together. He used the quick selection tool to select the model from one image and brought her into the next using a clipping mask. He then uses the paintbrush tool to bring more of the first image into the second, creating a blended effect.  In the third video, he shows us how to one again blend two images but this time using an exposure method. This is my favorite of the three videos because he shows you a lot of the keyboard shortcuts for the functions and tools. His use of the paintbrush

Propaganda Self Portait

My piece is a modern recreation of the famous Rossie the Riveter poster, made by J. Howard Miller. My idea with this piece was to use its original meaning, boasting female moral during World Wat II and depict it in a more modern way. I took away the meaning of boasting female workers and instead used it as a way to convey the modern day problems women face. With Rossie being such a symbolic figure in feminism I decided to recreate her with the problem of reproductive rights women face today. The slogan "my body, my choice" is meant to serve as a reminder to all government officials that human should have unsolicited control over their own bodies. Especially in todays climate with things like safe abortion and Planned Parenthood are being targeted, I think reproductive and general women's health rights are at risk.
